The God Of The Valleys

1 Kings 20:28: And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

Much like the Syrians we tend to believe that God is here but not there, that He is the God of this but not the God of that. Even we Christians go places and do things where we don*t give Him a thought. We tend to believe that there are insignificant little things that He does not care about. He cares about every detail. A Christian woman once asked Dr. J. Vernon McGee if God cared about certain little things in her life. His reply to her was: Can you think of anything in your life that is big to God?

If we forget about God in any area in our life, or willfully leave Him out, that area is where we will suffer temptation and defeat.

Psalms 106:21-23: They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt; 22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea. 23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

Leaving God out of the times and places of our lives or just forgetting Him are serious offenses. There is always a price to be paid when we do those things.

Psalms 113:3: From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD*S name is to be praised.

Psalms 63:3-6: Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. 4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. 5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: 6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

Psalms 1:2: But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

Isaiah 26:3: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

My Pastor spoke about the effect that His love for his wife had on him when she wasn*t physically present with him. He wondered what she would think about this and he wondered what she would think about that. When we love the Lord we will wonder what He would think about this and what He would think about that. He is always to be remembered, He is always to be included, His guidance and will are always to be sought, He is always to be obeyed, He is always to be loved and served. We all fail in these things, but He forgives and brings our thoughts back to Him. When we finally reach Heaven He will have our constant attention and we will always be blessed. That is what will make Heaven Heaven. We can have tastes of what Heaven will be like here on earth every day.
